Villainous Potion

Hello friends and happy New Distress Day! Welcome to the family Villainous Potion! WOW what a wicked color you are! So deliciously dark and twisty! Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink knocked it out of the park with this final color release of the year! If you missed the party and the literal smoke and mirrors LOL… you can catch the replay and all the maker inspiration over on Tim’s blog.

The color really lives up to the awesome name that Tim gave it. Villainous Potion is a needed, wanted and you’ll wonder how you lived without it, addition to the distress family. I have other makes to share where I used the OG distress inks, but this was definitely all about villainous potion oxide.

I really like the idea of having a stash of ready to go notecards and I find the repetition of making a set of cards relaxing. Plus handmade is always a really nice gift option. These don’t take long at all as you make them in batches and could easily do them in an evening.

I inked up a stamp from the brushstrokes CMS293 stamp set with villainous potion oxide ink and spritzed lightly with water, stamped onto distress watercolor cardstock and a second time with frayed burlap distress ink. I used a stamp platform to keep the stamp in place between inking. Added the moth and type slide from the moth study CMS436 stamp set, watercolored with villainous potion oxide ink and frayed burlap distress ink. Stitched the edges and mounted onto distress kraft heavystock.

The matching envelopes were die cut with the retired envelope bigz die and stamped with the brushstroke stamp and villainous potion oxide ink to decorate. I added some stamps from the rest in peace CMS435 stamp set in black soot distress archival ink.

To store the cards and envelopes I cut a box using the curio box die and distress mixed media heavystock. Stamped the sides with stamps from the rest in peace CMS435 stamp set and decorated the top the same way as the cards.  Added a moth and edged the box with ground espresso distress ink.

The box base is die cut using the curio box from distress kraft heavystock and sprayed with oxide spray stain. Add the cards and envelopes to the box tied with twine.

The villainous potion oxide is just amazing and mixed with antique linen and frayed burlap distress ink… YES PLEASE! Thanks to Tim, Mario and Ranger for inviting me to make. Be sure to check out the blogs of the other new distress makers Paula Cheney, Stacy Hutchinson and Cheiron Brandon.

Thanks for stopping by and for all your kind and encouraging comments during the LIVE. Have a great rest of your weekend.
