Tim Holtz Village Collection

Hello friends! Did you catch the LIVE launch of the Tim Holtz Village Collection? This is such an exciting day for all the village lovers out there and for those new to the Tim Holtz brand, this is your chance to own your very own set of Village Collection dies.

Despite the heroic efforts by Mario and his buddy at Fedex, my box didn’t quite make it in time for the LIVE, so Tim came up with a Plan B. I’m very grateful to them both for always looking out for their makers.

Today I’m sharing some close ups and if you keep scrolling there’s a storage idea too. In another post I’ll share how I put this together, the mistakes I made and the things I learned as a first time village builder.

EDIT: You can see my cemetery showcased on Tim’s instagram.

STORAGE

EDIT: You can see my village collection storage idea showcased on Tim’s instagram.

I wanted to easily see what options I had when building so I used this system to organize and store my dies.

For the storage I used:
2x packs of Tim Holtz Sizzix envelopes (+ 2 envelopes from the village collection – totaling 8)
1x pack Home Depot magnetic vent covers
2x sheets of Tim Holtz distress white heavystock
posca pen
scor-tape

I cut vent covers to fit the envelopes, mounted onto distress heavystock using scor tape to make the sheet sturdy and used a white posca pen to identify each sheet. The posca pen can be removed with a damp cloth if you make a mistake.

Great photos of your make–so sorry it didn’t make it to Tim in time but I am sure he will show us when it arrives. Your storage will be invaluable when our sets arrive-thank you. As I mentioned in the LIVE chat, I just bought about 3 sets of envelopes yesterday and I have used the magnetic vent covers for years so…all set! Thanks for always providing great inspiration!

  2. Karen Crist (aka KC in CA) says:

Thanks for the great storage info, Tami. Makes my life simpler as I always put my Thinlits onto magnetic vent covers but having a system for these houses is a real plus. I probably would have spent a lot of time rearranging. So sorry your make was delayed (hopefully only delayed) but at least we got a peak at it. Cannot wait for more info, especially about those tombstones.

  3. Debi Galloway says:

Thank you zoe for your great storage ideas. How many magnet sheets fit in each pocket?
I am in Australia and have not been able to find vent covers. What are they used for?
I do need my bundle yesterday but probably will have to suffer untold stress and frustration until december.🤗 As I have both sets of the tiny houses I am wondering what bits I can use together. I love the roof pieces and mini embossing folders, such a great addition. I would love to know if the new chimney pieces will match the angle of the tiny houses.
Have you ever tried to use a house as a pop up in a card? Thank you for everything you do to support us addicts.

I missed the live yesterday, but just finished with it today. Love your church and graveyard. Will be great to see Tim show it on IG. And I love your storage ideas.

I’m not sure if comments are allowed on Tim’s blog, but he has made this lady very happy with this release! I am so excited and have already ordered it, plus the 3 Ef’s. I became interested about a year ago, not know it had been retired. I know, I’ve been living under a rock. I never thought I would own one piece because the original dies are priced way beyond my budget, even if I could find everything.

  37. Rosemary Lyons says:

Love your cemetery and organizing plan, I will definitely copy that when my set arrives.

  38. Stacy L. Buller says:

Your “first” build is amazing…but I love all your creations. I thought for sure I didn’t need the village collection, but after seeing the live, how wrong I was. Plus now I can put your brickwork tutorial to good work. Thanks for the links…just placed my order 🙂

  39. Jeri Stewart says:

Thank you for the storage idea. Love it!

  40. Barbara Ramey says:

Love you make and the storage idea was great. I keep all of my dies stored on the same vent covers cut down to fit various sized plastic envelopes. When I purchased my house set my concern was how to organize and store. This was the absolute best suggestion.

  41. Kathleen Stadler says:

Zoe, I love your spooky church and graveyard! As I mentioned in an earlier comment, the ground seems to be positively roiling with portent! Thanks for the storage plan. I’ve been meaning to use the same concept for many of my other die sets – especially for Colorize. You’ve kickstarted my intention! You’re a Class Act, Lady!🥰❤️

  42. Teresa C says:

Beautiful church. I ordered my set of dies looking forward to playing over the Winter. It gets quite cold, wet and windy here in the UK so good excuse for hot tea and crafting 😂

  45. Lori-Ann says:

Thanks for the storage idea…that actually made me want to order the set. I have the complete steel rule does and when Tim did the live, it made me think about getting them and then when I saw your make and storage system. I was a goner. Thanks for always being amazing and thank you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️🦩
