Hello friends. I had a really busy day yesterday and couldn’t wait to get to my desk to try out an idea that had been brewing all day. I made a card to send to my Niece who lives in Ireland and will be celebrating her very first St Partick’s Day this coming Sunday.

I created a background using distress paints and my gel press. I brayered vintage photo distress archival ink onto the newsprint stamp from the Newsprint and Type (CMS266) stamp set and rolled over the background with my hand, pressing in several places. It creates a very subtle weathered style background. I used Humidor design tape to create the base layer of the card. The design tape is an awesome layer maker and I use it a lot.

I stamped the advert from the Distinguished (CMS371) stamp set using the travel stamp platform. Die cut a frame using the stitched ovals thinlits die, blended in frayed burlap distress ink and mounted with adhesive foam. I also die cut some hearts from the Tim Holtz heartfelt bigz die. Initially I was going to create clovers but changed my mind and decided to add them as hearts, I like the playing card type effect.

I sprayed idea-ology bouquet finding flowers with peeled paint distress spray and added peeled paint distress crayon to the four leafed clover, which I added to the hat with an idea-ology mini fastener… I love these mini fasteners, they’re the unsung heroes of idea-ology.

I stamped a top hat, matching coat/collar and the tie from the Distinguished (CMS371) stamp set. I have been giving the tie stamp the side eye all week! I stamped in black soot distress archival ink and coloured using a peeled paint distress marker and waterbrush. I fussy cut everything and blended with frayed burlap distress ink using a mini blending tool. I used the peeled paint distress crayon to add colour to the story stick and glued it on with distress collage medium and added a hardware head.

I cut down an idea-ology ruler and added that with the fussy cut tie draped over it. The tie fits perfectly into the collar. I really really really love this stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
