The Distinguished Gentleman

Hello friends, if you saw my post on Wednesday, you will know that there was supposed to be a post with the highlights of my trip to Creativation. Unfortunately, the post disappeared like a sock in the dryer, so it’s a rewrite over the weekend. In the meantime, I felt very inspired to get making using some of the new Tim Holtz products.

I have been so excited about the new Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp sets, particularly Distinguished (cms371)! This stamp set is one of my favourites from the new stamp releases.

I have a bit of a thing for Tim Holtz Hats and have been rather obsessed with the dapper set (cms267) for years. I often create using the hat and suit, so this new wardrobe is a dream for me.

I took a gel press workshop at Creativation and couldn’t wait to get home and try it out with some of my favourite mediums, in this case, distress paint. This formed the base of my card, using distress mixed media heavystock.

I used the new Tim Holtz distress archival ink mini in vintage photo to lightly stamp the number stamp from the purveyor (cms187) set. I love mixing the old and new stamp sets together.

Using the gel press, I built up several more layers of distress paint, adding a pop of colour with broken china at the end. You literally only need a tiny drop of distress ink. This method allows you to create a background with very little product!

I used the stitched rectangle thinlits die and foundry 3D texture fade to create this frame. Adding alcohol ink and distress crayon to grunge it up and a little design tape to hide a tear for contrast.

I love the old advert style typography stamp included in this set and the new top hat makes me a bit swoony and weak at the knees…

…as does the new suit jacket! I added a chipboard quote and aged it with alcohol ink and distress marker.

Idea-ology gears are my jam and the new hardware heads are the perfect partner. Here I aged with a little picket fence distress paint and distress crayon. I added an adornment arrow with a fuse wrapped around it. All glued into place with distress collage medium.

The layers are design tape and metallic kraft stock, sanded, with a little vintage photo distress ink blended in.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll be back soon (maybe, probably, definitely) with my highlights from the Creativation 2019 show, hopefully before it’s time for the next show!! Have a great weekend.
