  1. Tivoli Guards

    4th November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

Hello friends and happy Friday! It’s been a long and busy week for me and I’m looking forward to a creative weekend of making. Hopefully you’re starting to receive your new distress color Lumberjack Plaid and are enjoying getting acquainted with the gorgeous rich red. If you want to watch the replay of the LIVE launch and the maker inspiration, head over to Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I live pretty close to Tivoli Gardens, an amusement park in the center of Copenhagen city. I’ve been many times, we take out of town visitors there and have even had some special friends join us via facetime.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
When Tim released the Harvey thinlits die set I immediately thought of the Tivoli Guards dressed as Nutcrackers. Little did I know that there was the perfect color coming to make them, so when I saw Lumberjack Plaid I knew that I wanted to make this piece.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The new colorize dies are so easy to build and there are resources online to show you how to put these together. I Love the depth of the Lumberjack Plaid on the guards overcoats. Of course I had to make them a little grungy, because that’s what I like, but you could easily block the color. I used idea-ology metallic kraftstock to cut the chin straps, feather medallions and the stripes on one of the guards hats. I decided to use a single feather on 2 of the guards, I love having lots of options with this die set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I created a platform for the guards to stand on using the Etcetera Trims and the decorative trims die to cut a matching trim which I embossed with the Lumber 3D folder and inked. I added an extra piece of card to make the trim deeper to fit “Tivoli” which I cut using the (retired) Alphanumeric Marquee die and the Alphanumeric 1″ Tall die set. The base alphanumeric letters are cut from idea-ology metallic kraftstock and the marquee letters cut from distress watercolor cardstock and sprayed with Lumberjack Plaid distress spray stain. I love the way the metallic peeps through the holes in the marquee letters and makes the Lumberjack Plaid distress ink pop!

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I tucked a couple of pieces of holly underneath the ledge by die cutting distress watercolor cardstock with the Seasonal Sketch thinlits dies. I used the Lumberjack Plaid ink for the base of the berries and the oxide ink for the top outline die cut. I love the contrast these 2 mediums of Lumberjack Plaid give and that it works so well with grungier colors of the Distress palette.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The background is a piece of distress watercolor cardstock, cut to fit the mini etcetera tag. I used the sheet music stamp from the Department Store stamp set to stamp several times in distress archival ink. I stitched the outside of the tag with my sewing machine and glued to the tag using distress collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
Finally, I added the bow from the new Yuletide Colorize thinlits die set which was stained in Lumberjack Plaid distress OG and oxide inks. By adding a little light colored distress paint to the die cut first, it creates a resist for a nice grungy look. I blended in a little walnut stain distress ink on top.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
This would be easily adaptable to make a card, gift card or gift box topper and of course you could change the theme to Disney, London or anything you can dream up… I hope this has inspired you to create.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  2. Bowtied For Lumberjack

    3rd November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

Hello friends. I’m sharing another card I made for the Tim Holtz LIVE launch of the newest member of the Distress family, Lumberjack Plaid. You can see the makes and watch the LIVE replay over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The new Bowtied colorize die is a perfect match for Lumberjack Plaid and pops over the top of the awesome new Tree Rings 3D folder which I embossed onto distress kraft heavystock and added walnut stain and ground espresso distress inks over the raised areas.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I cut the Bowtied Colorize thinlits die from distress watercolor cardstock and swiped through a paint wash of (retired) pumice stone distress paint. I used Lumberjack Plaid oxide ink pad for the lighter layer and the original ink pad for the darker layers of the colorize. Adding a little ground espresso distress ink to the edges to darken.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
My obsession with the box label from the Department Store CMS458 stamp set continues. I stamped it onto copier paper in distress archival ink and added a stamped seal in Lumberjack Plaid distress ink with a stamp from the Holiday Postmarks CMS323 set; gluing it over the bottom of the bow.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  3. Lumberjack Plaid

    2nd November, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink

Hello friends. Did you meet the newest member of the Tim Holtz Distress family, Lumberjack Plaid?! I think you’ll agree that Lumberjack Plaid is a real nice good honest red! LOL You can get a formal introduction and see the makes and LIVE replay over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I absolutely love the depth of the color from Lumberjack Plaid and it’s so easy to grunge up by adding a little brown from the distress palette. It’s an immediate favorite for this grunge lover.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I die cut the lantern and candles from Candlelight thinlits die set. I love this set and although I’ve cut the candles many times, it was the first time I had cut the lantern! I know right?! I used distress watercolor cardstock and Lumberjack Plaid spray stain and ink pad.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I paired it with the new Modern Festive die set, which I was determined to make vintage! 😉

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
The background is a stamp called Sparkles and Christmas CMS324 which I brayered with distress archival ink and stamped without using a grid block to give a more weathered look. The sparkles are from the Wise Men thinlits die set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz lumberjack plaid distress ranger ink
I added a stamped sentiment from the new Holiday Sketchbook CMS456 stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  4. Costumes and Millinery

    1st September, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade

Hello Friends, I hope you’re having a great week! Did you see the awesome Tim Holtz Halloween Stamp launch on Saturday? Oh my pumpkins it was so much fun and the maker inspiration was incredible! Tim did an awesome demo using the moon masks and mica sprays and watch to the end to see Mario’s costume! Replay and maker inspiration over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
Speaking of costumes… I loved one of the stamps so much that I created one of my makes around it. The “Costumes and Millinery” signage stamp from the aptly named Exquisite CMS453 stamp set was where I began…

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I stamped onto the smooth side of a piece of distress watercolor cardstock with black soot archival ink and blended in gathered twigs distress ink. I used a white posca pen to highlight the center of the letters. I didn’t stamp a second time over the top as I like the look of the pen slightly bleeding over the black in. You could leave the stamp on your stamp platform and stamp a second time over the top.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I needed to find myself a Milliner and this gentleman from the new Halloween paper dolls pack with his mask from the new curiosities sticker book was the perfect fit. Something about that mustache says “get your costumes here!” 😉

For the background I cut a piece of distress mixed media heavystock the same size of an etcetera thickboard mini tag. Sprayed with distress sprays and mica sprays from the new Halloween Mica sets. I stamped some of the background stamps from Exquisite CMS453 stamp set in vintage photo and ground espresso distress archival ink. Adding the larger bat stamp from the Unraveled CMS452 stamp set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I was instantly smitten with the new Crest stencil and applied distress opaque crackle paste with a palette knife through the stencil onto the background. I added a little rusty hinge oxide ink between the stenciled paste and walnut stain distress crayon. I stitched the edges of my background with my sewing machine and then glued it to the etcetera tag with distress collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I used a very retired (I’m sorry) idea-ology hanger clip! I removed the inside clippy bit with my dremel and added white gesso and alcohol ink. I carefully made a hole in the paper dolls hand to slide the hanger through. I have 13 left, unlucky for some… but lucky for me. If you haven’t hoarded some of the idea-ology hanger clips, you could use a wire jig, which is a metal or plastic base with holes in and comes with pegs that you place into the holes to create the shape and then you pull your wire around it. Heavy gauge wire would work best for this.

I used the smaller bat stamp from The Scarecrow CMS451 stamp set to stamp onto a piece of linen fabric with black soot distress archival ink. I used sticky grid to hold the fabric in place on my stamp platform and stamped several times. The fabric will absorb some of the ink initially so keep stamping until you have a bold image.

The mask was cut from the (retired) Masquerade thinlits die set from idea-ology halloween deco sheet. I pierced a hole into each side with a pokey tool (retractable craft pick), added black thread and strung it from the hanger.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
While I had my dremel out… I removed the back of smaller skull from previous idea-ology halloween release years. I have quite the collection. Read out of context, that sounded terrifying! LOL

I used the new idea-ology halloween deco sheets and cut another mask to fit from the (retired) Masquerade thinlits die set. Again, sorry if my use of retired items causes frustration, hopefully you have something in your stash you can use.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I used the Markings stencil to add a couple of X’s using white gesso. I added another mask cut from the halloween deco sheets to the end of the sign.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I mounted the signage onto 2 Etcetera pinked trims glued together in the middle at the straight edge so the pinked edges peek out at the top and bottom of the sign. I covered the pinked edges with distress foundry wax. I wasn’t kidding about it being all about this signage stamp! I also used the background script stamped with vintage photo distress archival ink. I will use these background stamps all year so I’m very happy to have them in my collection.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous exquisite stamp crest stencil sizzix masquerade
I cut one larger mask from the black halloween deco sheet with the (it’s still retired) Masquerade thinlits die set for staging. I love how all of Tim’s brands mix and match together.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

  5. Eccentric

    16th June, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric

Hello friends. Hope this finds you well. Are you excited for the new distress color launch this weekend? I know I am!! While we wait patiently to find out what The Professor has cooked up for us in his lab, I’m sharing an Etcetera tag I made for the Tim Holtz Stamp LIVE launch. You can watch the replay and see all the maker inspiration over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
The Eccentric stamp set (CMS448) was my favorite from the launch and will be one that doesn’t go back into my stamp cabinet. I loved the idea-ology remnant rubs that Tim launched earlier in the year and to have some of them as stamps is awesome! They make the perfect background and support stamps but to me they can also be the star of the show.

Here’s some details on how I made the tag…

Draw around a small etcetera tag and cut out of distress watercolor cardstock. Cover with a light layer of gesso and add a wash of frayed burlap distress ink to the edges.

Using the PLUS stencil from Mechanical Element Stencil set, spread distress opaque crackle paste with a palette knife and set aside to dry and crack.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
Stamp the background using stamps from Eccentric with distress archival ink. Add distress crayon to the crackled stenciled PLUS and cover with a stamped fussy cut number strip, also from Eccentric.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
Stitch the edge of the cardstock and using distress collage medium, adhere to a small etcetera thickboard tag.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I only used 1 stamp that wasn’t from Eccentric stamp set and it was this bullseye stamp from Inquisitive stamp set (CMS432). I stamped using fired brick distress archival ink and light tapped with black soot distress archival ink before stamping to create the distressed lines.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I used a stamp from Eccentric to cover the center of the bullseye. I watecolored the pie sections with distress reinkers, fussy cut and added with distress collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I die cut the banner from Bunny Games thinlits die set and coloured with barn door, faded jeans and frayed burlap distress reinkers. I stamped the star trio onto distress watercolor cardstock and used a small single hole punch to punch out the stars, which I added to the frayed burlap sections of the banner.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I stamped and fussy cut the AWESOME pointy hand and added foam to the back of the hand but not the finger which I wanted to sit above the cardstock so I could add the string. I ran a piece of twine along the top of the banner and secured in place with distress collage medium. The precision tip bottle of collage medium is perfect for this.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I stamped some more images and added them to the tag, some I stamped directly onto the tag and others I fussy cut and mounted. I added an idea-ology adornments arrow that I added a little fossilized amber distress paint to.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I stamped this cool “For Skill And Amusement Only” onto distress watercolor cardstock and mounted onto foam. I added distress grit-paste to the edges of the sign and once dry, painted with layer of ground espresso and crackling campfire distress paint to simulate rust. I added idea-ology hardware heads with more faux rust added.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I stamped “condemned” at the bottom of the tag which was partially resisted by the pastes I had added. I love the eroded decayed look. The lower stamped image is part of the same stamp but I stamped it separately and several times to get a b0ld stamped image. This is where using the stamp platform is essential.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
I added a couple of idea-ology adornment stars which I added fired brick distress paint to and rubbed off in parts to give a chippy paint look.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric
Finally I added a piece of ribbon from a very very retired idea-ology ribbon set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 Eccentric

  6. Botanic Collage Mica

    13th June, 2022 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage

Hello Friends, I hope this finds you well. Did you catch the Tim Holtz Stamp LIVE launch party on Saturday?! There were very early morning coffees and early evening cocktails being poured from the various world time zones while we took our front row seats for the show… If you missed the party, you can watch the replay and see all the maker inspiration over on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
I made this card using the new Botanic Collage stamp set (CMS447). I’m not usually drawn to the floral side of the force, but the newsprint background gives these stamps such a cool vibe for me that I had to use them.

Let’s get into how I made it and the secret beneath the mica sheets! 😉

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
Ink up your stamp with antique linen distress ink or another very light distress ink and stamp onto the smooth side of distress watercolor cardstock.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
Choose the distress reinker colors you want to watercolor your stamped image with. Put a tiny drop of each on your glass media mat ready to pick up with your paintbrush to watercolor.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
As you watercolor the stamped image, you will see the antique linen stamped lines become less prominent. You don’t need to be too delicate with this, however, do try to stay within the lines-ish. I set the stamp next to me when I’m watercoloring so I can check the design where the stamped image lines are feint.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
I know it looks like a hot mess, but stay with me…

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
Place your mica onto your stamp platform. The Tim Holtz Tonic Media Grip Mat will keep the mica tile from moving. Magnets will work, but I wouldn’t use sticky grid because it makes a mess of the back of the mica. Position your stamp, ink with Stazon and stamp onto the mica tile. Because it’s Stazon ink, you will need to use stamp cleaner afterwards and then wash the stamp cleaner off with dish soap and water.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
Your mica tile is now ready to place over the top of your hot mess watercolor background.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
    Ta Dah!

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
I added a frame over the top and trimmed the mica to size. Using distress collage medium to attach the mica tile at the edges and leave the center to sit slightly above the background.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
I added a couple of stamped images from the new Eccentric stamp set (CMS448) which I am OBSESSED with!

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
I stamped the “handle with care” stamp with barn door distress archival ink once and then lightly touched the stamp with a black soot distress archival ink pad and stamped very lightly. I fussy cut and tucked under the background layer which I stitched.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous 2022 botanic collage
It’s a pretty quick card to make and you could easily adapt this to a slimline card or tag.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello friends. Happy December. I thought I would pop in with a little Ho Ho Ho and share one of my makes for the Tim Holtz Christmas stamp release, all the details, replay and inspiration makes are over on Tim’s Blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa
I love Santa and this stamp from the Jolly Santa CMS442 stamp set stole my heart. He really is a very jolly looking Santa indeed!

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa
I crackled up an etcetera thickboard tag, you can see the how to for the crackle on a previous post, click here. I added idea-ology velvet trim and tiny bells, hung from a hook clasp. The holiday greeting was stamped from the Jolly Santa stamp set in distress archival ink, fussy cut and mounted onto the tag with adhesive foam.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa
I stamped the text from Jolly Santa onto plain collage paper with distress archival ink and pasted it on with distress collage medium. I love how the collage paper “melts” into the background when you add collage medium. If you want to give it a more vintage hue, add vintage collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa
I used distress reinkers to watercolor the santa, which I had stamped with distress archival ink. I blended in a little walnut stain distress ink and spritzed with water. I fussy cut the santa and mounted with adhesive foam.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa
I added a frame and more stamps from the jolly santa set using distress archival ink and covering with a layer of vintage collage medium.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonyigirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa mous jolly santa igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous jolly santa
You could easily adapt this to a card, but I think it’s so fun to have a gift with a massive gift tag and bells on.

Thanks for stopping by and happy making.

  8. Special Delivery

    19th November, 2021 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box

Hello friends. It’s Day 5 of my week of Christmas makes and I wanted to thank you for your kind comments. I hope these posts encourage you to make a little something something during the season. I have some fall/thanksgiving makes planned for this weekend which I’ll be sharing next week, but on with the Christmas makes. If you’d like to see the Tim Holtz holiday stamp launch and all the inspiration makes, head over to Tim’s Blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
I made a little box of tiny cards and envelopes using the curio box bigz die and retired envelope die and the magical new Tim Holtz holiday stamps and stencils. I made one of these boxes for the villainous potions distress launch which you can see here. They make such sweet gifts for non card makers (and card makers too) and it’s always so handy to have notecards and gift cards ready to go.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
For the mixed media heavystock box top, I sprayed frayed burlap onto the non stick mat portion of my glass media mat and picked up with the heavystock and spritzed with water and dried. I sprayed a little antique linen distress spray direct onto the box top and dried again. I stamped the santa from the holiday things stamp set and the text from the jolly santa stamp set. I stamped the sides and once finished I assembled the box. How to a little further down…

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
The base of the curio box was die cut from distress kraft heavystock and I used the new stripes shifter stencils to create these cool candy cane stripes. I LOVE candy cane stripes like I LOVE pumpkins and this stripes stencil is perfect for creating your own. I used distress paints candied apple and picket fence and painted through the stencil. Shifting slightly to leave a strip of the kraft heavystock showing through. I did this before assembling the box.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
Using the curio box bigz die, cut distress mixed media heavystock and distress kraft heavystock. You will see that the box on the left has tabs, this is the top of the box and it slides over the top of the box on the right that has no tabs.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
I add a little scor-tape to the tabs and stick into place. Super super simple.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
The base is a little more fiddly, but only until you find your way. I used distress collage medium in the precision bottle. Run a line of glue along the edges of the end pieces and hold them together until they dry. You don’t need much glue and it doesn’t take long to dry. It can be a little tricky the first time you do it, but once you’ve made a few it’s really easy. I suggest die cutting a cereal box and practice on that so you’re not worrying about wasting the good cardstock.

Pro Tip: Ask your husband/wife/friend/family member to hold it while it dries. Thanks to my sweet husband for always being willing to lend a hand (literally).

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
Your box is ready to fill with tiny cards and envelopes.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
Using the holiday things stamps, I stamped onto distress watercolor cardstock with distress archival ink and watercolored with distress reinkers. I stamped the sentiments from the cozy christmas stamp set with distress archival ink. Once dry, I gave the card toppers a light mist with the seasonal mica sprays. I decorated in the inside of an envelope using the same technique as the box base and stamped onto the front with a stamp from the jolly santa stamp set.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
I stamped and fussy cut a label with “special delivery” from the jolly santa stamp set stamped inside with distress archival ink and added it to the bottom of the box.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
I used my sewing machine to stitch the distress watercolor cardstock toppers before I attached them to the distress kraft heavystock card.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
I attached an idea-ology tiny clip to connect each card and envelope. This is such a cute addition if you’re sending this out as a gift for someone.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous holiday things jolly santa curio box
Brown paper packages tied up with string… these are a few of my favorite things!

Thanks for stopping and don’t forget to join Tim and Mario tomorrow for part 3 of the holiday demos on Tim’s YouTube channel. See you there.

  9. Cozy Christmas Snowman

    18th November, 2021 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas

Hello friends. Welcome back for day 4 of my week of Christmas makes that I’m sharing with you. I wasn’t kidding about loving the new Cozy Christmas stamp set by Tim Holtz. You can see the stamp launch and other inspiration makes over on Tim’s Blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas
I do love that you can use these stamps in parts and pieces. I decided to make a mini card to go with an envelope I had created that was the wrong size for my curio box cards (which I will be sharing tomorrow).

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas
I used distress reinkers to watercolor onto distress watercolor cardstock. I stamped the cozy christmas stamp in black soot distress archival ink. I love this ink as it’s permanent when dry and perfect for watercoloring over.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas
I created this envelope using my mini envelope punch board. I added frayed burlap distress oxide spray, some of the seasonal mica and then dried with my heat tool. I added crackle texture paste through the hocus pocus stencil and once dry, added vintage collage medium through the stencil onto the stars.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas
I liked the envelope so I decided to make a tiny card to fit. That’s the great thing about having the cardstock and these tools, you can customize anything. I used the envelope as a template to cut an envelope liner using some leftover idea-ology paper I had. How fancy right?!

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas
Seriously?! How cute is that snowman with his pot for a hat? I love him.

  10. Cozy Christmas

    15th November, 2021 by iGirlZoe

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas

Hello friends. The weather outside is frightful here today, which is perfect to get cozy inside and start sharing my Christmas makes. I made quite a few cards with the new Christmas stamps that Tim Holtz released a few months ago. You can see the launch replay and all the inspiration makes on Tim’s blog.

igirlzoe: tim holtz stampers anonymous cozy christmas
I was very taken with the Cozy Christmas CMS444 stamp set and couldn’t stop making with it. It really tapped into my love of coloring. I stamped onto distress watercolor cardstock with distress archival ink and used distress re-inkers and a water brush to watercolor. Each of the cards is mounted with the following layers: idea-ology kraft stock + idea-ology metallic kraft stock + distress kraft heavystock.

If you look closely you will see there is text underneath the stars and the paper looks wrinkled. I stamped onto the background and then regretted it as it was way too bold and overpowering. So I went about fixing it! I added a piece of torn plain collage paper over the stamped text with collage medium.

Once dry I covered with a white gesso wash and then dried and stenciled distress crackle texture paste through the falling stars stencil. Finally, I added vintage collage medium and once dry, rubbed walnut stain distress crayon into the cracks.

This card was also not as planned but the happy accident worked…

The brown mark was the happy accident. I had turned the card over to mount it onto the card and there was a a little wet distress ink on my media mat. I dried it with a heat tool and liked the look so went with it. The one time I tried to make a “clean” card though hey! The universe was trying to tell me something!

By just adding a little brown distress ink you can grunge the same card right up!

These stamps are so wonderful to watercolor. I used distress reinkers and dried with a heat tool and then picked up some frayed burlap distress spray drips from the non stick mat portion of my glass media mat.

For this card I used both the stamps and a little masking magic.

I stamped onto a piece of copy paper and fussy cut. It takes a minute but I enjoy fussy cutting, it relaxes me. The reason I use copy paper is that it’s thin and so you don’t get that ridge when you mask and stamp over the top.

I flicked with a little white gesso.

Something else I love about the cozy christmas stamps is how well they work in parts and pieces.

I turned the stamp upside down and stamped a portion at the top of a #8 heavystock tag.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the set in hickory smoke distress archival ink. I love the sentiments in this set and plan to use them for my December Daily this year.

I LOVE this snowman with a pot for a hat. I’ll be back tomorrow with another make featuring that cute snowman. Change of plans… that cute snowman will be back later this week.

    Thanks for stopping by.
