Frilly & Funkie Bountiful Harvest

It’s Wednesday and time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog!

This challenge is hosted by Nancy (Tattered Treasures), who has chosen the theme BOUNTIFUL HARVEST …NANCY says, “Create any vintage or shabby chic project celebrating the bounty of the season in the rich hues of Autumn.”

I confess that since moving I’ve suffered from a fair amount of creative block. I think the stress, exhaustion and mind overload has left me a little creatively flat. Even with this super challenge theme, I sat for the longest time and nothing happened, so I turned to Tim Holtz’s 12 Tags of 2016 for help. Tim guides you through the techniques and before I knew it, I was covered in ink, big smile on my face…

You can see this background technique over on Tim’s blog. I’d forgotten how much I love the remnant rub resist.

I used the Tim Holtz Alphanumeric thinlits dies to create “Thankful,” die cut from cork and laid over the top of textile surface. I created the little pumpkin ticket using the mini pumpkin stencil from set number 22 and applying a little spiced marmalade and peeled paint distress marker through the stencil with a water brush. I added a remnant rub to the bottom and blended in walnut stain distress ink. SO CUTE!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will find time to join in the challenge and pop over to Frilly and Funkie challenge blog to see the rest of the DT’s projects. All the products I used are available from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

A really beautiful autumnal tag Zoe, gorgeous colours and just love that wonderful pumpkin!

Great advice about the ‘block’, I wonder if Tim’s tag might release mine too… xx

Beautiful! Love how you used the tag as your inspiration. I love the way you turned the tag and your beautiful autumnal colors on the resist. That little pumpkin tab you created with the stencil image is fabulous!

  3. Stunning effects! I love your background, and that colored pumpkin looks fabulous! Creative block no more! Well done!

Love the tag! I know what you mean about creative block. I also don’t seem to have the oomph to get much accomplished. I am hoping this leaves me soon!!! Bad time of year to feel “flat”. lol Happy Thanksgiving to you in the U.S. May you have lots of family and friends around you and oh yes, lots of pumpkin spice lattes and pies!!! 🙂

This tag is so very awesome … yes those rub resist are awesome . !

  6. This is gorgeous. I love the tag base…so lovely with all those remnant rubs and metallic tones. The pumpkin pops off the background. I know moving is stressful. We’ve been in our new home for 7 months now, and I am also exhausted. And, I still can’t find some things! LOL. I’m very thankful for my studio, though, as it is my happy place. I hope we’ll both feel fully settled soon. Hugs!

  7. LOVE your take! LOVE the turning of the tag and the position of the sentiment!
